2 Player Game ?
Myself and my gf are cancelling our Lord Of The Rings Online subsciptions and are considering moving to Guild Wars because its FREE.
Despite being members of a Kin and often taking part in Kin raids and fellowships, we tend mostly to play the game in a pair completing quests and exploring. I notice from the website that outside that outside towns and villages in Guildwars that there are quests that support fellowships size 4-6. If I was to purchase the game, we would be looking to be able to complete quests jointly, is this possible ? Basically does the game play well with 2 I presume we also need two copies of the game to obtain two account keys ? |

Well the maximum party size for PvE is 4-8.
This can include 2 real people and 6 Hero's which is what 99% of the couples that play this game do myself included. My Guild leader runs with his wife and there are a few more couples that play together as well. So actually this game is set up perfectly for 2 real people and then to fill the party with hero's. As for accounts, you will need 2 separate accounts for this to work or you would have to take turns playing cause only one character can play at a time on one account. I hope this answered your question Last edited by imnotyourmother; Aug 25, 2009 at 12:36 PM // 12:36.. Reason: error |

You would need two accounts, yes. Thankfully they can be picked up pretty cheap these days!
Group sizes vary from 2-8 players depending on how far along in the campaigns you are (some end-game areas allow up to 12 people.). The game works very, very well with small teams as you can fill up the other slots with Henchmen NPCs, or if you own Nightfall and/or Eye of the North you get heroes, NPCs that you can control the skills + equipment of. You can of course fill up your party with other real people if you so wish. There are a few things you will want real people to play with, such as end-game areas. In some of these areas henchmen can't go, and in some areas the hero / hench AI isn't all that smart. But a *lot* of the game can be played and enjoyed just the two of you and NPCs helping out! In your case, you and your girlfriend can meet up in the same time, group up, add some heroes or henchmen and off you go exploring. You will 98% of the time be doing the same quests, just in the starter areas there's usually a few quests which are profession specific. You can still tag along though even though the quest isn't useful for you, you will still get some XP and gold and items along the way. GW is a very, very enjoyable game. Hope you have fun with it! |

I would love to get my girlfriend into this game, but she isn't the fantasy-kill-things type...not yet at least.
This game is a lot of fun when you have at least one or two people to run through it with. Best of luck! |

To add a bit of detail to the above, all of the main storyline(s) can be played with heroes and henchmen filling out the party.
If you buy only Prophecies and/or Factions, you will only have access to Henchmen, which are pre-configured NPCs which will help you. If you get Nightfall and/or EotN,you will also get access to Heroes, which are customizable NPCs that you can equip with weapons and skills of your choice. Heroes are far superior in usefulness to Henchmen. The entire game, including most of Hard Mode, can be done with just 2 people with Heroes. (1 person plus Heroes & Henchies even.) |
